Before the Mutiny in 1857 and the way the British reacted, fighting and losing the city of Delhi and then coming back in force and taking it, displacing many many villagers, this site was simply a 14th century hunting lodge of a weathy man. Afterwards, though, villagers who lived nearby were visited by a saint who was supposed to have been buried there, asking the family to take care of the site. They come once a month, to leave offerings and allow the saint to heal the sick and infirm. In some ways, this is a way for people to reclaim the land that was taken from them after the crushing of the rebellion.
