I'm used to my personal blog over at livejournal, so whenever I think of posting here, I feel compelled to make it like so many of the nonprofit tech blogs I read, all informative and impersonal.
I haven't had any comments here, either, so I don't know for sure that there is actually anyone OUT there reading this.
So I think I will fall back on my general blogginess, and just talk about my work. In fact, I've been DOING so much of that work that I haven't really had the mental space to WRITE about it. Every day I have six or seven email discussion lists to read, and they are full of leads, possible contacts, ideas, tools, questions I need to have answered, too.
The lasting impression I take away every day, when I've just spent four straight hours on the internet, reading, copy-paste-name-saving, following paths...is that there is so much wealth in this field, so much information, so much HELP for people like me just starting out. it's overwhelming, that's for sure. I'll try to share some of what I find with this space. I've wanted to summarize some of the fascinating discussions I come across-- the whole long thread on Digital Divide about the $100 laptop, for instance. Or the story of the Yak rancher who discovered wireless cell phones and they've changed his life.
I don't promise to be a more frequent poster, but I'm going to try.
